A carnival, a cannabis flea market, a music festival, and a series of damn hot days was the Chalice Festival 2017 journey. A group of highly evolved and talented cannabis companies met this weekend in a small city surrounded by desert in southwest San Bernadino, California. The 3 day hash, music, and art fest felt like a peek behind the curtain to one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
From the minute it began, you could tell this was geared to a much more advanced user than your average festival crowd. Several enthusiasts were lined up on opening day waiting for the gates to open. They got there early to acquire limited strains and beat the lines for popular brands. The crowd was highly diverse with shirtless cowboys, nerdy tech types, jewelry flashing hustlers, and hippie flower children, but all were equally excited at the level of access to truly amazing product. Getting to shop openly, and selectively for high quality cannabis products felt like a short glimpse at a future that should've already arrived. A foreshadowing for when cannabis will be treated as commonly and casually as a beer & wine festival.
There was a palpable energy created from mashing together the producers who represent the various corners of the cannabis world. Independent thinkers with vastly different respective concentrations were now able to see how they fit in the larger picture, and how fast that picture was being created. When placed side by side in a flea market style, you could witness true collective effort to clarify the vision of the industry as it continues to evolve.
Since things are much different on the east coast, we brought a living room across the country to Chalice to show off our product. This gave us a home-like atmosphere to connect with our fans inside. The Puffco lounge gave people a break from the 100+ degree weather with AC, free water, an inside look at our technology, and a proud staff eager to interact.
We were pleased to see the amount of people who already had a Puffco product who came by to show love. We helped some users get spare parts, and others we showed how to clean their products. As good as we are at the festivals, our support team online is the best in the business and can help anyone who didn't make it to Chalice.
It's always great to see our friends creating product at a consistently higher level. Baroni, Dabblicious, IC Collective, and Guild all set the tone in The Clear building as a high end, refined space. We made some new friends like the incredible growers at Fig Farms, and found time to catch up with old ones like Jewice from the Flatbush Zombies.
Our weekend wouldn't have been possible without the Clear family who curated an amazing group of conscious creators. We'd also like to thank the Chalice Festival and all of it's amazing organizers and sponsors. See you next year!
