11 years on the torch

How many years on the torch? 
I’ve been blowing glass for 11 years. I was a freshman in college when I saw Degenerate Art on Netflix, and I immediately became obsessed. I watched it repeatedly until I found a bead maker giving lessons, and then found a studio of pipe makers in South Philly that took me under their wing.

What’s your favorite part of glass blowing? 
The freedom. Glass can seem unlimited with the possibilities, ideas can seem endless. Time is more restrictive than the medium. 

What drew you to build on the Puffco platform? 
Puffco has always been around the studio. Roger would send care packages to Krushmore when the Plus first dropped. When the Proxy came out, I immediately had the idea for the squat lock design, merging an old school shape with new school technology. Making the case fitter design is also a perfect canvas for the pattern work I’ve been doing. Happy to support good people and all be in this together, it seemed like a no brainer.

What’s one of your favorite pieces you’ve made?  
My most recent Syphon recycler. Function, form, patterns, facets. Everything I’ve been working on for 11 years came together in this one piece.
